Julius Gbabojor Pondi, a Niger Delta activist and incumbent member of the House of Representatives representing the Burutu Federal Constituency, has won the seat back in the recently concluded National Assembly elections.
With his election victory, the two-term House member becomes the first person in history to hold the seat for three consecutive terms.

Pondi of the Peoples Democratic Party received 11,863 votes, beating Dr. Agbeotu of the All Progressives Congress, who received 5,469 votes.
Pondi was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission after receiving the most valid votes cast.
Pondi is the first politician to win the Burutu Federal Constituency seat three times in a row.
