A 38-year-old Nigerian CEO has purchased a 55% stake in Aarhus Fremad, a Danish second-division football club.
Shola Akinlade is the co-founder of Paystack, a financial technology startup, and the owner of Sporting Lagos FC, a football club in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
The tech entrepreneur expressed his gratitude and excitement to begin this new chapter.

Aarhus Fremad has not revealed how much Mr. Akinlade paid for his ownership stake in the club.
Mr. Akinlade, who now resides in California, co-founded Paystack with an old schoolmate in 2015. Their company was purchased by the US online payment giant Stripe for $200 million (£162 million) in 2020, but it continues to operate independently.
Aarhus Fremad currently leads Denmark’s second division, the country’s third tier of football leagues.
