According to Nigerian police, alleged Biafran separatists shot and killed a traditional leader and his two deputies in the state of Imo in the country’s southeast.
Before opening fire, the assailants went to the palace in Oguta and said that there was an emergency. The motive behind the attack on Monday against the king, Eze Ignatius Asor, was not immediately known.

According to Nigerian authorities, the gunmen reportedly targeted a neighborhood watch group’s headquarters as they escaped, killing at least one person and taking three motorcycles in the process.
The secessionist organization Indigenous People of Biafra, which police accused of being responsible for the murder, has not yet responded.
The group is advocating for a Biafra-style breakaway state in the southeast of the nation. The authorities frequently attribute the rise in violent violence in the area to it.
