The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has raised serious concerns about the management of funds at the Cement Technology Institute of Nigeria (CTIN) under the leadership of Aliko Dangote, and they’ve taken their concerns to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in an open letter.
According to NANS, there’s been a significant mismanagement of funds at CTIN, with allegations suggesting that Aliko Dangote diverted funds originally intended for training and development opportunities for Nigerian youth within the cement industry.
NANS is deeply troubled by what they see as a lack of transparency and accountability within CTIN, arguing that the alleged diversion of funds has not only led to broken promises but has also dashed the hopes and aspirations of many Nigerian youths looking to build careers in the cement sector.
In their letter to President Tinubu, NANS has called for urgent intervention from the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment to bring clarity to the situation. They specifically demand that the status and utilization of the over ₦20 billion contributed to CTIN over the past decade be made public.
Moreover, NANS is pushing for an independent forensic audit of these funds and a restructuring of CTIN’s leadership to prevent similar instances of mismanagement in the future.
The student association is also seeking answers from Aliko Dangote regarding his alleged involvement in the mismanagement of funds. They emphasize the need for swift action to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
NANS remains resolute in their pursuit of justice and pledges to do everything within their power to prevent similar breaches of public trust from occurring in the future.
