Nigerian woman Oyindamola Akinyera recently experienced an extraordinary moment when she gave birth to a baby girl mid-flight on a trip to Brazil. Akinyera shared the incredible story on Instagram, revealing that she and her partner were en route to Brazil for their “Honeymoon and Babymoon” when labor unexpectedly began during the flight.
Despite the surprise turn of events, the couple welcomed their daughter safely while still airborne. In her Instagram post, Akinyera detailed how the flight attendants took on the role of “personal midwives,” with a doctor named Carolina assisting with the delivery.
She described the scene as her baby arrived just 20 minutes before the plane landed. Upon arriving in Brazil, Akinyera and her newborn were taken to the hospital, where they were both reported to be doing well.

Her post read in part: “The pains kept waking me up, and the Qatar Airways crew (my personal midwives) jumped into action. They set up a makeshift birthing station at the entrance of the plane.
“Everything was happening so fast, and all I could think was holding on until we landed. When they asked if there was a doctor on board, Dr. Carolina stepped up, saying, ‘I deliver babies.’ She checked me, confirmed I was fully dilated, and that the baby was ready to come. We were in Brazilian airspace and about 40 minutes from landing.
“… At one point, I felt exhausted and told them I couldn’t continue. The amazing Qatar Airways crew prayed over me, encouraging me to keep going.
“Just 20 minutes before landing, we were blessed with the most precious baby girl. We landed safely in Brazil and went straight to the hospital, where both my baby girl and I are doing great.”
This heartwarming tale has captured widespread attention, with many offering their congratulations and best wishes to Oyindamola for her unforgettable and joyous experience.
