Residents of Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, have reported renewed clashes between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
It comes despite US sanctions imposed following the breakdown of a humanitarian cease-fire.
People in the city said the army had resumed air strikes and was using more artillery, but there was no sign that the RSF was leaving the streets and homes it had taken over.
The military announced that reinforcements had been brought to the capital from other parts of Sudan.
According to analysts, the armed forces will launch a massive offensive to clear the streets of paramilitaries.
