Tiwa Savage just made her son’s 10th birthday extra special—with a gift that had him grinning from ear to ear.
In a touching video shared online, the music star handed over Jamil Balogun’s very first mobile phone. But along with the gift came a gentle reminder: responsibility first.
“So birthday boy, what’s the rule of having a phone?” she asked. Without missing a beat, Jamil replied, “No social media.”
Tiwa smiled, nodding in agreement. “Exactly. Just your Roblox and FaceTime with me.”
Jamil’s joy was obvious as he clutched his new phone and said, “I feel nice. Finally, I have a phone.” A simple moment, but one filled with excitement, love, and a mother’s care.
Behind the scenes, though, Tiwa had been dealing with her own disappointment. In a post shared on Snapchat, she revealed that travel plans for Jamil’s birthday had fallen apart due to delays with her visa application.
With emotion in her words, she wrote:
“I don’t even know whether my visa was approved or not. All I know is that my passport isn’t out. I have a huge shoot in London, and missing it could mean losing big opportunities for my album and its release date. I feel like crying.”
She continued, “Jamil’s birthday is tomorrow, and everything I planned has been ruined. My heart is heavy. I’m just going to switch off today and pray that tomorrow brings peace, life, and hope.”
Even though the trip couldn’t happen, Tiwa still managed to create a moment her son will never forget—one filled with joy, love, and a shiny new phone.
