Nollywood’s Odira Nwobu Survives Serious Car Crash Along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
Nollywood actor and comic talent, Odira Nwobu, was recently involved in a terrifying road accident that left his car mangled and several lives reportedly lost.
A circulating video from the crash site shows a scene filled with urgency—bystanders working frantically to pull survivors from the wreck. Odira, visibly shaken and injured, was seen sitting by the roadside, his clothes stained with blood. Though he appeared conscious, he looked disoriented as people rushed to assist.
The incident occurred along the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Wednesday. While details are still emerging, reports indicate the crash claimed multiple lives. Fortunately, Odira and other survivors were taken to a nearby hospital and are receiving medical attention.
Odira’s journey into the movie world began shortly after secondary school, but it was his standout role in Joseph the Dreamer that propelled him into the spotlight. The performance earned him a nomination for Best Comic Actor at the African Movie Academy Awards.
Over the years, he’s carved out a niche in Nollywood with roles in films like Home Alone, Class Mugu, Village Rats, Goat Lover, Wayward Father, Ikpo, Village Priest, and Family Saga.
In 2021, he tied the knot with Gifty, and they celebrated the birth of their daughter in 2023.
As fans and colleagues send their well wishes, many are grateful that despite the tragic nature of the accident, Odira’s life was spared.
