Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of filmmaker and producer Victor Tobechukwu Okoli, popularly known as Vic Matt.
Reports indicate that Vic Matt, who also managed Bright Morgan, a contestant in the current Big Brother Naija Season 10, was abducted last Friday near Ntachi Osa in Enugu State and later killed by his captors.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed on Thursday, August 21, 2025, by fellow filmmaker Ben Cassie, who shared a moving tribute on Instagram.
In her post, Cassie described Vic Matt as a man of principle, calm, intelligent, and passionate about creating meaningful films. She recalled how he was always encouraging, standing out in an industry she described as full of “snakes and scorpions.”
“To be kidnapped and killed is such a painful way to leave this world,” she wrote. “You always dropped words of encouragement even when I was most silent. We can all live and prosper. Goodnight, Vic.”
Her heartfelt words have since drawn an outpouring of grief from colleagues, fans, and stakeholders in Nollywood, many of whom are celebrating Vic Matt’s impact on the industry and his unwavering support for young creatives.
