Hopeson Adorye, a former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), shared his candid views on the party’s prospects in the upcoming general elections.
He expressed skepticism, suggesting that the NPP is poised for a transition to the opposition, regardless of their efforts to the contrary.
Adorye’s remarks came during President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s recent State of the Nation address, where he hinted at the party’s impending shift to opposition status.
In an interview with Atinka TV, Adorye reiterated his belief, asserting that the NPP faces formidable challenges in securing victory in the 2024 elections.
Regarding the potential candidacy of NPP flagbearer Mahamudu Bawumia, Adorye remained doubtful, citing historical voting patterns and forecasting a challenging electoral landscape.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s address is anticipated to cover a wide range of sectors, including security, governance, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and anti-corruption efforts.
Furthermore, the address aims to outline the government’s primary policy objectives for the year and propose strategies to address prevailing economic challenges.
Earlier in February, the then Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, announced the President’s forthcoming address in Parliament, underscoring its significance in the political arena.
