The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Alan Kyerematen’s campaign team has identified several irregularities in the register for the party’s special delegates conference. The team discovered approximately five errors and promptly raised these concerns in a letter dated August 2, addressed to the head of the Presidential Elections Committee.
One of the discrepancies found was regarding the Chief of Staff’s eligibility to vote in the party’s super delegates’ meeting scheduled for August 26. The team urged the party to address these issues before the convention of super delegates.
A member of Alan’s campaign team, who is also a member of parliament representing Bortianor-Ngleshie, discussed the matter on Eyewitness News on Citi FM.
The elections committee has been notified that the Chief of Staff is not a member of the National Executive Committee, despite mistakenly being listed as one. Additionally, the team highlighted that the Ashanti Regional Second Vice Chairperson was erroneously listed twice in the same album, among other discrepancies.
According to the party’s election rules, only current members of parliament are eligible to vote. While the Chief of Staff may attend NEC meetings, it does not automatically grant voting eligibility. The campaign team aims to ensure a fair and accurate delegates conference for the NPP’s presidential elections.
