The Ogun State Government has set up a special committee to oversee burial arrangements for the late Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, and was laid to rest the next day.
In a statement signed by Tokunbo Talabi, Secretary to the State Government, the committee has been given the responsibility of coordinating all official events that will honour the monarch’s life, leadership, and impact on both Ogun State and Nigeria.
The burial committee is made up of key state officials and respected figures from Ijebu’s traditional institutions. Members include:

At their first meeting, held Thursday, July 17, 2025, the committee confirmed its intention to work closely with the family of the late Oba and other traditional and community stakeholders. With the expected presence of President Bola Tinubu at the burial events, the committee pledged to ensure the final farewell reflects the honour and dignity befitting a monarch of Oba Adetona’s stature.
