Nigerian rap star Olamide Baddo has addressed the long-standing misconception that he is shy.
During an interview on the Ada’s Room podcast, Olamide clarified that he isn’t shy but simply laid back.
“One thing I wish people understood about me is that I’m not shy, I’m just laid back,” he said.
When asked about the difference between being shy and being laid back, the rapper explained that the two are not the same.
“Shy is when you lack the confidence or charisma to face people, make eye contact, or engage in conversations,” he said. “Being laid back, on the other hand, is just not wanting to be bothered. People mistake my calm nature for shyness, but that’s not the case.”
Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian artist Portable, known for his controversial statements, recently claimed that Olamide will one day regret not signing him.
Sharing a lengthy post on Instagram, Portable said he was destined for international success despite industry challenges and disagreements. He described his rise from a “local rapper” to an international star as a combination of perseverance, divine guidance, and support from global collaborators like Skepta.
Portable went on to assert that he is unstoppable and that Olamide would regret not backing him, explaining that he was simply fighting for his own rights.
