The 2023 Oscars have arrived, and Hollywood’s biggest actors and actresses were more than ready to celebrate the best in film from the previous year inside the Dolby Theatre.
On March 12, all eyes were on the Best Picture category as moviegoers awaited to see if Everything, Everywhere, All at Once would take home the night’s biggest trophy. Spoiler alert: They absolutely did, and the full list of winners can be found here.
There was also the anticipation of whether Austin Butler would defeat Brendan Fraser in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role category. Michelle Yeoh, Cate Blanchett, and Michelle Williams were also present to see who would win the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role.
While movies were the focus of this live award show, there were also performances worth noting. During the show, a pregnant Rihanna performed “Lift Me Up” from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, while Lenny Kravitz delivered the “In Memoriam” performance.
And an award show would be incomplete without a host. Jimmy Kimmel made his third appearance on the show. And, yes, he made numerous jokes about the infamous slap seen all over the world.
“We have strict policies,” he said during his monologue. “If anyone in this theatre commits an act of violence at any point during the performance, you will be awarded the Oscar for Best Actor and will be allowed to give a 19-minute speech.”
However, before the show began, there was a red—or should we say champagne—carpet where attendees displayed must-see fashion looks. Continue reading to see all of the outfits and celebrity sightings from the 2023 Oscars.
