Super Falcons Set for Olympic Glory in France
Head Coach Randy Waldrum has finalized his squad for the upcoming Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France, including seasoned players like captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Osinachi Ohale, and forward Asisat Oshoala among others.
The squad, which also features talents like defenders Oluwatosin Demehin and Michelle Alozie, midfielders Deborah Abiodun and Halimatu Ayinde, and forwards Esther Okoronkwo and Uchenna Kanu, is gearing up for a rigorous training camp in Sevilla, Spain.
Scheduled to depart for France on July 18th, the nine-time African champions Nigeria will face Brazil, Spain, and Japan in their group matches at the tournament. Their campaign kicks off against Brazil on July 25th at the Stade Bordeaux, followed by clashes with Spain on July 28th and Japan on July 31st at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.
Having secured their spot in the Olympics with a crucial victory over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, the Super Falcons are determined to make a strong comeback after their last appearance in 2008. The team is set to bring their A-game under the leadership of Coach Waldrum and Captain Ajibade, aiming to replicate the historic achievements of Nigerian football on the global stage.
Stay tuned for updates on their journey to Olympic glory!
