Senator Natasha Accuses Akpabio of Ordering Seizure of Her Passport
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of directing immigration officials to confiscate her international passport at the airport, an action she says stopped her from travelling abroad.
In a video that surfaced online on Tuesday, the lawmaker was seen confronting immigration officers over what she described as the unlawful seizure of her passport.
Speaking in the clip, Natasha expressed anger and disbelief at what she called a deliberate attempt to restrict her movement.
“Hello, fellow Nigerians. I’m Senator Natasha,” she began. “I’ve just completed my second year in office and decided to take a short break. But here I am again — my passport has been seized.”
She recalled a similar incident in the past, saying that she was once stopped from travelling despite having no legal case or court order against her.
“The officer told me that Senate President Godswill Akpabio gave instructions to hold on to my passport, claiming I tarnish the country’s image whenever I travel abroad and speak with international media,” she said.
Clearly frustrated, Senator Natasha described the situation as a violation of her rights and a disturbing case of intimidation. She called on relevant authorities to look into the matter and put an end to what she termed repeated harassment.
