Arsenal’s hopes of lifting the Premier League title this season could be in jeopardy, according to former player Paul Merson.
Merson highlighted the importance of Arsenal’s upcoming matches against Tottenham Hotspur and defending champions Manchester City, which come right after the international break.
In his analysis for Sky Sports, Merson stressed the need for Arsenal to secure at least four points from these crucial encounters.
“Arsenal’s title race hinges on the results of these next two games against Spurs and City. They must get at least four points. That’s the key,” Merson explained.
He added a cautionary note, saying, “If they fall short, they’ll find themselves chasing Manchester City, which is never easy.”
Currently, Arsenal sits third in the table, just two points behind City and Liverpool.
Manager Mikel Arteta’s side will face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, September 15, followed by a Champions League clash with Atalanta on September 19. They’ll then travel to the Etihad to take on Manchester City on September 22.
