“Stop Falling for the Act” — Wike Criticizes Peter Obi’s Humble Persona
Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor, isn’t buying what Peter Obi is selling — and he doesn’t think Nigerians should either.
During a visit to Edo State on Tuesday, Wike took aim at the former Anambra Governor, accusing him of faking humility to win hearts ahead of the next presidential race.
His biggest gripe? Obi’s habit of publicly serving food, which many have hailed as a display of humility.
“This thing where a presidential hopeful is out there dishing food and people are clapping — that’s not humility, that’s an act,” Wike said.
He continued, “Where was this energy when he was governor? Was he carrying plates then? Now, just because elections are close, he wants to serve meals and win points.”
Wike also slammed Obi’s previous promise to fly commercial jets if elected, calling it unrealistic and misleading. “Which security agency would even allow that?” he asked. “Let’s stop pretending. Nigerians love to be fooled — that’s the real issue.”
He ended with a sharp jab: “Go ahead and believe him if you want. But don’t say nobody warned you.”
