On Tuesday, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi expressed his condolences for the passing of Lawal Garba, a zone chairperson in Kaduna State.
According to reports, Garba died in a deadly car accident on the Kaduna-Zaria highway while he was returning from the party’s Monday meeting with Northern stakeholders in Kaduna’s Arewa House.
Obi mourned Garba in a series of tweets on Tuesday, expressing sorrow at the chieftain’s passing.
“I’m startled by the news that Mallam Lawal Garba passed away suddenly and tragically last night in a deadly car accident,” Obi remarked. At the interactive event at Arewa House, Mallam Garba was present. “His passing leaves his family, the Kaduna people, and the Kaduna State Labor Party at a great loss.
I ask God Almighty to provide his family the strength to endure this tremendous loss and for the eternal rest of his soul. Along with other party members, Obi and Baba-Ahmed Datti arrived in the state on Monday to meet with the Arewa Joint Committee.
Obi and Datti also paid the controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi a courtesy visit while they were in the state.
