President Bola Tinubu played host to royalty on Tuesday as he welcomed Her Majesty, Queen of Denmark, Countess Monpezat, to the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was also on hand to receive the Queen during her visit to Aso Rock.
Photos released by the presidency captured the warm exchange between both leaders, marking a diplomatic moment steeped in ceremony and mutual respect.
On the same day, Nigeria also opened its doors to another key partner—this time from South America. The second session of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism officially kicked off in Abuja, with Brazil’s Vice President Geraldo Alckmin arriving for a three-day visit aimed at deepening ties between the two countries.
According to a statement from Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications (Office of the Vice President), both countries are preparing to sign over 30 agreements across multiple sectors. These agreements are expected to touch on areas such as defense cooperation, agricultural innovation, clean energy initiatives, education and culture exchange, industrial development, and trade.
Vice President Kashim Shettima received Alckmin and his wife, Maria Lúcia Alckmin, at the State House Conference Centre. Nigerian governors, ministers, presidential aides, and members of the diplomatic corps from both countries were also present to witness the diplomatic engagement.
The day underscored Nigeria’s commitment to fostering global partnerships—from Europe to South America—all in a bid to strengthen strategic alliances and spark shared progress.
