One of the most effective attackers in club football, Robert Lewandowski, scored his first World Cup goal against Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
In the 82nd minute, the Barcelona and former Bayern Munich forward gave Poland a 2-0 lead by stealing the ball from Saudi defender Abdulelah Al-Malki and coolly sliding it past goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais.
A cheerful Lewandowski, who was playing in his fifth World Cup game, raced to his teammates to congratulate them on their accomplishment. Piotr Zielinski, who opened the scoring for Poland, received a pullback from Lewandowski, 34, early in the game.
