Renowned South African actress Connie Chiume has passed away at the age of 72. She died on August 6, 2024, at Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg, as reported by Naija News.
In a statement, Chiume’s family requested privacy as they mourn their tremendous loss. The statement reads, “The Chiume Family regrets to inform you of the passing of the internationally acclaimed, award-winning actress Connie Chiume. Connie Chiume, 72, passed on at Garden City Hospital on August 6, 2024. The family will provide further details and ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw expressed her sorrow and admiration for Chiume in an Instagram post, writing, “NO! Rest in peace, Mum Connie. You were deeply loved and appreciated. My condolences to South Africa; they have lost a beautiful soul. Sleep well, my friend!”
Chiume’s illustrious career spanned several decades, making her a beloved figure through her roles in popular TV shows like Mohlolohadi, Yizo Yizo, Zone 14, Rhythm City, Housekeepers, and Grassroots. She also gained international recognition for her roles in the Marvel films Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
