President Mahama Honours India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Ghana’s Highest Award
During a heartfelt ceremony at Jubilee House on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana—the nation’s highest civilian honour.
The award was given in recognition of Prime Minister Modi’s role in deepening the relationship between Ghana and India, particularly in areas of diplomacy, development, and cultural exchange. The state banquet, part of Modi’s official two-day visit to Ghana, brought together dignitaries from both countries to celebrate the shared vision between the two nations.
In a brief but moving response, Prime Minister Modi expressed sincere appreciation to the people and government of Ghana. “This honour is not just a recognition—it’s a reminder of our responsibility to keep building bridges,” he said.

Modi dedicated the honour to the youth of both countries, emphasizing the importance of unity, shared history, and the value of working together toward common goals.
“This is for the hopes of our young people, our diverse cultures, and the deep friendship that India and Ghana have nurtured over the years,” he said. “India remains committed to walking this path alongside Ghana—as a true friend and partner.”
The visit served as a symbol of continued cooperation, with conversations focused on expanding collaboration in trade, education, technology, and sustainable development.
