Mahama Suspends Fuel Allowances for Appointees, Calls for Shared Sacrifice
President John Dramani Mahama has taken a bold step toward trimming government spending by ordering the immediate suspension of fuel allowances and allocations for all political appointees.
In a statement released by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President’s spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, the move is described as part of a larger effort to redirect limited public funds toward essential national priorities.
“The President believes that those in leadership must be willing to share in the sacrifices expected of everyday Ghanaians,” the statement read.

The government has already reduced the number of ministers and presidential staff and cut back on non-essential services—including halting satellite television subscriptions at the Presidency and other public offices.
