Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) over potential plans to shift away from the U.S. Dollar.
In a message shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump cautioned that if BRICS nations abandoned the Dollar in favor of another currency, they should be prepared for a 100% tariff on goods entering the U.S.
He also stated that any country moving away from the Dollar would risk losing access to the U.S. market altogether.
“The idea that BRICS nations are considering moving away from the Dollar while we sit back and do nothing is over,” Trump declared. “We will demand a commitment from these countries that they will not create or support any alternative currency to replace the U.S. Dollar. If they do, they should expect steep tariffs and say goodbye to selling into the U.S. economy.”
Trump emphasized that the Dollar remains central to international trade and dismissed the possibility of BRICS establishing an alternative. “Any country attempting to replace the Dollar should prepare for consequences,” he warned.
His comments have sparked discussions on global economic policies and the potential impact of trade restrictions on international relations.
