Renowned Ghanaian artist, Shatta Wale, has expressed a unique perspective on success in the music industry. While many artists aim to perform at the iconic O2 Arena, Shatta Wale’s focus lies on accumulating significant wealth.
During a recent Twitter Space hosted by Ghanaian media personality Serwaa Amihere, the Dancehall sensation revealed that he considers his goals in the music world fulfilled. He no longer feels the need to seek validation from others. Shatta Wale elaborated that he finds little incentive to represent Ghana internationally when he perceives a lack of appreciation from his fellow countrymen, who even label him as a drug user.

In his view, having a substantial billion-dollar balance in his bank account takes precedence over achieving sold-out concerts, even though performing is at the core of his identity as an entertainer.
His words were straightforward:
“Why should I jeopardize my well-being to fill a venue for the sake of Ghanaians or the music industry? My aspirations are met – I desired property, investments, and financial security. I’m content. Thus, filling the O2 Arena isn’t my prime objective. My focus is securing a billion dollars in my account; that’s my current ambition. Kindly refrain from pressuring me about the O2 Arena or my music.
Following my successful show at the Accra Sports Stadium, one might have expected support from Ghanaians to help me conquer the O2 Arena. After all, I’m not London-born, with the innate fanbase there. Remember, Asake alone couldn’t fill the O2 – it took collaborative efforts from industry insiders. If the Ghanaian music industry aims to criticize someone who autonomously filled a sports stadium without elaborate promotions, then what more do they expect?”
