South African police are probing a bomb hoax that temporarily disrupted flights at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo airport on Wednesday afternoon.
The South African airport’s authority (ACSA) stated that it evacuated passengers and personnel after receiving a call from an anonymous caller citing a bomb threat at the domestic arrivals section.
“Eight domestic flights were impacted as a result of this temporary disruption in normal operations.” “Our primary concern will always be the safety of our passengers and employees, and it was critical that action be taken immediately to ensure their safety,” ACSA stated.
The body stated that services resumed in the evening after police investigations determined that there was no cause for alarm.
Police are continuing their investigation “to determine the origin and motive of the individuals involved in this incident,” according to the statement.
