Nollywood star Regina Daniels has spoken up in support of Phyna, the Big Brother Naija Level Up winner, after a recent video of them hanging out sparked mixed reactions online.
Regina shared a lighthearted clip on Instagram showing her dancing alongside Phyna and a few friends. However, her post quickly drew attention following another viral video that showed Phyna at a club, leading to criticism from some users.
One comment in particular questioned Phyna’s decision to party, referencing her late sister’s case. The user wrote, “See person wey dey mourn her sister and asked Dangote Group to pay $80m. On Friday, she was in the club vibing.”
Regina quickly came to Phyna’s defense, replying, “She definitely cries in her private moment. But with us, the tears dey mad?” — implying that everyone grieves differently and that joy in public doesn’t erase pain in private.
The situation traces back to Phyna’s recent accusations against Dangote Group, where she alleged negligence in handling matters related to her late sister, Ruth.
In a series of emotional posts on her Instagram story, Phyna claimed the company failed to fulfill its promises to cover all hospital and burial costs. According to her, while the hospital bills at Lagoon Hospital were settled, her family bore other expenses, including the transfer from Auchi to Irrua, mortuary, and burial payments.
Phyna stated that on the day of the burial — September 13 — her family’s calls to the company went unanswered, forcing them to handle all outstanding costs. She also alleged that the company later sent a letter to her father, asking him to sign an acknowledgment for funds they claimed to have provided, which she said the family never received.
Describing the move as “disrespectful and painful,” Phyna accused the company of drafting the letter themselves instead of allowing her father to write one.
She further voiced concern for her late sister’s children, stating that no form of support has been offered to them since Ruth’s passing.
Through it all, Regina’s message stood clear — behind Phyna’s brave face lies real grief, and sometimes, a dance is just a moment of relief amidst the pain.
