Rihanna Teases Long-Awaited Ninth Album in New Interview
Rihanna just gave fans a reason to stay excited, dropping fresh details about her highly anticipated ninth album in a cover story interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
It’s no secret that R9 is one of the most awaited projects in music. On Saturday (Feb. 22), the global superstar revealed her latest Harper’s Bazaar cover, along with an exclusive interview where she opened up about her upcoming release.
“I’ve been in the studio for eight years… I know it’s not what people expect. It’s not made for the radio or to be commercial,” she shared. “But I feel like I’ve finally cracked it, girl!”
Many assumed her new album would have a reggae influence, but she quickly shut down those rumors. “Way off! There’s no set genre. That’s why I waited. Every time, I felt like it wasn’t me. It didn’t reflect my growth or evolution. I couldn’t stand by it or perform it on tour,” she explained. “After so much time away from music, whatever I put out next has to matter. It has to be worth the wait. There’s no room for anything mediocre. After waiting eight years, what’s a little longer?”
Some fans speculate that Rihanna’s attention has shifted to her relationship with A$AP Rocky, motherhood, and her beauty and fashion empire. And while everyone is eager for new music, her past work still dominates the charts. In 2023, she even made a grand return to the stage, headlining the Apple Music Super Bowl LVII halftime show—seven years after releasing ANTI.
Despite the ongoing buzz around her next project, Rihanna isn’t in a rush. But one thing is certain: the world will always be ready for whatever she drops next.
