We’ve received a new comment from one of the two men involved in a bitter feud that has devolved into an all-out war.
General Mohammed Hamdan Daglo (also known as Hemedti), the commander of the paramilitary Rapid Special Forces (RSF), has asked the international community to intervene.
In a Twitter thread posted this morning, he calls for action against his adversary, army commander Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. He claims that his troops are fighting “radical Islamists.”
The international community must take action now and intervene against the crimes of Sudanese General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, a radical Islamist who is bombing civilians from the air. His army is waging a brutal campaign against innocent people, bombing them with MiGs. 1/4

The RSF’s leader describes his fight as “the cost of democracy.” He claims that his troops “did not attack anyone” and are simply responding to a “siege and assault.”
“We are fighting for the people of Sudan to ensure the democratic progress that they have long desired,” he adds.
Many commenters on Hemedti’s post, however, have dismissed his claims, pointing out that his paramilitary force has a brutal reputation. Previously, the RSF was accused of ethnic cleansing in Darfur.
