However, Salernitana forward Boulaye Dia’s equalizer in the 84th minute dashed Napoli fans’ hopes, and the game ended 1-1.
Napoli were on the verge of winning their first Serie A title since 1990 when runners-up Lazio were defeated 3-1 by Inter Milan in week 32, but their hopes were dashed.
Napoli leads the Serie A standings with 79 points, Lazio is close behind with 61 points, and Juventus is third.
