Netflix and Neil Gaiman, the author of the comic book that inspired the movie, have both announced that “The Sandman” will be returning to viewers’ screens.
Wednesday saw a joint announcement by Netflix and Neil Gaiman that the fantasy drama, which is based on Gaiman’s well-known comic, has been expanded with new episodes.
Gaiman announced the announcement on Twitter with a quick teaser video that saw Morpheus’ famous mask emerging from a bed of sand. The rumors are true, he wrote. Netflix is ecstatic that so many of you are watching Sandman because it means that what we had all hoped would happen has in fact occurred.

The Sandman series centers on Morpheus (Tom Sturridge), the embodiment of dreams and king of “The Dreaming,” who breaks free from a century-long imprisonment and embarks on a mission to recover stolen personal items and bring his realm, which had declined while he was away, back to its former splendor.
The cast’s outstanding and enigmatic performances, which included those of Kyo Ra/Vanesu Samunyai as Rose Walker, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Boyd Holbrook as the Corinthian, and Patton Oswalt as Matthew the Raven, really made the series stand out in addition to Sturridge’s excellent performance as Morpheus/Dream.
For example, Jenna Coleman portrayed Johanna Constantine, Gwendoline Christie took on the role of Lucifer Morningstar, David Thewlis took on the role of John Dee, Kirby Howell-Baptiste represented death, and Mason Alexander Park played desire.
