On Thursday, November 14, the Super Eagles of Nigeria officially booked their place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with one match still to play in the qualifiers.
Joining Nigeria in the tournament are Gabon, South Africa, and Uganda, who also secured their spots in the competition set to take place in Morocco.
In a thrilling encounter, Tunisia clinched a dramatic 3-2 victory over Madagascar with a last-minute goal in the 93rd minute. This win marked Tunisia’s 17th qualification for the prestigious tournament, further cementing their legacy in AFCON history.
Nigeria’s qualification was confirmed after Libya defeated Rwanda 1-0, ensuring the Super Eagles would finish in the top two of Group D. The Eagles later played to a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic, a result that solidified their position as group leaders.
Defending champions Ivory Coast also secured their place in Morocco, continuing their reputation as a dominant force in African football.
Other teams that have qualified for the 2025 AFCON include Algeria, Senegal, Cameroon, Egypt, Burkina Faso, Angola, Morocco, Equatorial Guinea, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
