Former Senator Kabiru Marafa has walked away from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a video message delivered in Hausa, Marafa told his supporters that his decision followed deep consultations and reflections on the state of the party over the past two years.
According to him, the APC has failed its members, especially in Zamfara, where he believes betrayal and division run deepest.
He explained, “After meeting with my people for two days and reviewing the journey of APC since two years ago, it is clear the party has cheated us both in Zamfara and across Nigeria.”
Marafa also pointed to the long-standing rift between Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and former Zamfara governor, now Defence Minister, Bello Matawalle. He criticized the leadership for failing to reconcile their factions, saying no meaningful meetings had been held since Buni took charge.
“The party has been split into two camps—one loyal to Buni and the other to Matawalle. For over two years, nothing has been done to fix this,” he lamented.
Concluding, the former lawmaker said he has officially left the APC and will continue consultations before deciding on his next political move.
