The Queen’s casket has entered St. Giles’ Cathedral, where a thanksgiving service is being held.
King Charles III, the son and heir of the Queen, and her other three children accompanied the coffin into the cathedral.
Soldiers from the Royal Regiment of Scotland brought the coffin from the Palace of Holyroodhouse and put it at the front of the cathedral. On top, the Scottish Crown was positioned.
Additionally present are Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and UK Prime Minister Liz Truss.
Reverend Calum MacLeod welcomed the royal family at the start of the service, calling them “representatives of our nation’s life” and “those whose lives were touched by the Queen in so many unique ways.”
All People That on Earth Do Dwell, the opening hymn, is presently being performed.
