Tragedy struck on Sunday in Brazil’s southeastern Minas Gerais state as seven individuals lost their lives in a plane crash, authorities confirmed.
The single-engine aircraft departed from Campinas, located in the neighboring Sao Paulo state. Reports suggest that the plane experienced a mid-air breakup before crashing around 10:30 am (1330 GMT) in Itapeva, a mining town.
According to firefighters, the wreckage revealed seven fatalities onboard the aircraft. Initially, the department reported three discovered bodies before updating the count.
Local residents captured images of the aftermath, depicting the plane’s remnants strewn across a grass and tree-covered hillside. These visuals quickly circulated on social media platforms and Brazilian news outlets.
