Peruvian Authorities Investigate Leaked Medical Records of Global Star Shakira
Authorities in Peru are taking action after confidential medical records of internationally acclaimed singer Shakira surfaced online following her recent hospital visit in Lima.
The Colombian artist, known for her global hits and multiple Grammy wins, was rushed to a Lima clinic over the weekend due to an abdominal issue, leading to the cancellation of her much-anticipated Sunday concert.
Shortly after her treatment, details from her medical report appeared on social media, sparking public outrage and prompting an official investigation.
According to Peru’s national health service watchdog, the clinic involved could face significant penalties. Spokeswoman Ruby Cubas confirmed that officials had already met with the medical facility’s representatives, though further details remained confidential. The investigation is expected to continue for several weeks.
Delgado Clinic, where Shakira was treated, described the incident as a severe breach of ethical standards and data privacy regulations. The facility has already identified individuals responsible and has initiated disciplinary actions.
Meanwhile, Shakira remains focused on her highly anticipated world tour, her first in seven years. The tour, titled Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women Don’t Cry Anymore), began in Rio de Janeiro and includes nearly 50 performances across Latin America before heading to North America.
Following her recovery, the singer took the stage in Lima on Monday, expressing heartfelt gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support.
With a career spanning decades, Shakira continues to captivate audiences worldwide with her music and advocacy, solidifying her status as one of the most influential Latin artists of all time.
