Nigerian singer Simi recently shared her deep love for her country and her hopes for its growth.
Speaking on the 90s Baby Show, the singer expressed pride in being Nigerian, highlighting the unique energy and spirit that define the nation. According to Simi, being Nigerian feels natural — a part of her identity that sets her apart on the global stage.
“The spirit of Nigerians is unmatched,” she said. “Even in Hollywood, when actors try to mimic African accents, they rarely attempt a Nigerian one. Our identity is unique, and it just feels like home.”
The mother of one also shared her concern about the number of citizens leaving the country in search of better opportunities. She emphasized that if Nigeria offered a more supportive and comfortable environment, more people would choose to stay.
Simi concluded by saying her desire for a better Nigeria comes from love and pride. “Being Nigerian isn’t just a nationality; it’s a feeling. That’s why I hope the country improves — so more people will feel they don’t have to leave,” she explained.
