Spyro, the Nigerian singer, has finally spoken out following the online criticism faced by Pastor Bolaji Idowu for inviting him to perform at his Christmas Carol Service.
The recent events stirred up mixed reactions among social media users, with some expressing disapproval and raising questions about the alignment of the song with Christian values. On the flip side, others argued that the situation wasn’t as profound, highlighting that Spyro performed the song as part of a stage play.
In response to the controversy, Spyro took to social media on Monday, December 18, to share his perspective. He revealed that he has been an active member of Harvesters Church for over seven years, contributing to two different units within the church community.
He asserted that being a celebrity doesn’t stop him from being human, a Christian, and serving God in his local assembly.

“Just saw myself and pastor B has been getting dragged because I did a drama ministration I’m church 🤷🏽♂️
Let me make something’s very clear!!
1. I’ve been a member of Harvesters for well over 7 years, and I serve in two departments
2. The clip making rounds on social media is off a drama I took part of at our annual carol service called Fantasia
3. The Carol was completely FREE for all. The tickets were free!
4. Because I am a celebrity doesn’t make me human?? I can serve God like the rest of you naw
So pls understand that I am Human, a Christian and I serve in a real church!!!
T for thanks”
