“This Thing Go Backfire” — Rudeboy Shares His Worry About Social Media Culture
Paul Okoye, better known as Rudeboy, isn’t keeping quiet about what he sees happening online — and he’s genuinely concerned.
The music star, who rose to fame as one half of the iconic duo P-Square, recently took to his Instagram stories to share a blunt message about how many Nigerians are using social platforms.
According to him, it might all seem like jokes and banter now, but it won’t end well for everyone.
In his words: “Social media is going to destroy a lot of people… You might think it’s just cruise, clout, or to trend… Your eye go clear.”
It’s a familiar story — people chasing quick attention, often crossing lines for laughs or likes. But Rudeboy’s warning hits different, especially in a digital world that sometimes rewards bad behavior.
While there are growing calls for some form of regulation in Nigeria, the internet remains largely a free-for-all. And this freedom often spirals into fake stories, online insults, and reckless content — with little to no consequence.
That brings us to another recent episode that had many people talking: Speed Darlington and his shocking confession.
The outspoken performer stirred serious backlash after a video surfaced in which he casually described a disturbing story involving a minor. The clip went viral fast — and not in a good way.
But just as the outrage peaked, he came forward again with another video, calling the entire thing a publicity stunt.
“I’m an artiste,” he said unapologetically. “If you’re not trending, you’re not getting booked.”
He went on to explain that the video was part of his strategy to promote a new track — one filled with explicit content — and insisted people were overreacting.
“If you’re offended, that’s okay. Apologies,” he added, making it clear he wasn’t going to lose sleep over it.
It’s moments like these that highlight the wild ride social media has become — where shock value often overshadows responsibility, and where trending today might mean trouble tomorrow.
