According to Unicef’s Victor Chinyama, the Somalia water crisis is “far from over,” and tens of thousands more people are expected to die as a result of the drought.
According to a new report from the Somali government and the UN, 43,000 people died in Somalia last year due to the drought, with half of them being children.

According to Mr. Chinyama, an additional 25,000 people could die between January and June of this year.
However, there was still time to save lives, he said, urging aid agencies to “continue to provide safe water to stressed communities.”
He stated that more needs to be done to assist Somali families in growing their own food, as well as to improve healthcare, education, and child protection.
