Sophia Momodu, mother of Davido’s first daughter, Imade, has spoken out to clear the air after online claims suggested she stopped their child from attending a recent family event.
The Adeleke family had a wedding in the U.S. over the weekend, and while Davido’s second daughter, Hailey, was in attendance, Imade wasn’t spotted at the ceremony. Her absence quickly stirred reactions, with some social media users accusing Sophia of keeping the child away from her father’s family.
Addressing the accusations on Wednesday, Sophia shared a statement on Instagram, explaining that she woke up to a wave of online attacks directed at her and her daughter.
She emphasized that Imade is healthy, happy, and well cared for. According to her, she has been fully responsible for Imade’s needs for the past five years, except for school fees, which Davido’s parents have supported for the last three years. She added that Davido has not contributed financially in other aspects, yet their daughter has never lacked anything.
Sophia also stressed that she has always encouraged a healthy bond between Imade and her father, noting that she has never denied access. Her only concern, she said, is ensuring their daughter’s safety and maintaining proper structure around visitations.
She ended by reaffirming her commitment to raising Imade with love, stability, and a peaceful environment.
