According to a Sudanese doctors’ union, 39 of 59 hospitals in Khartoum and neighboring states are “out of service,” highlighting the country’s deteriorating humanitarian situation.
According to a statement posted on Facebook by the Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors (CCSD) on Wednesday morning, only 20 hospitals were fully or partially operational.
“Among the hospitals that have ceased operations are nine that were bombed and 16 that were subjected to forced evacuation,” according to the CCSD.
Fighting has resumed in Khartoum and other parts of Sudan, as the army and paramilitary forces trade blame for breaking a 24-hour humanitarian truce that was supposed to go into effect Tuesday evening.
