The Supreme Court dismissed an appeal filed by former Minister of State for Education Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba on Thursday.
The appeal sought the disqualification of the All Progressives Congress’s Bola Tinubu and the Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar as presidential candidates.
Justice Inyang Okoro dismissed the appeal after the former minister withdrew his case after learning that it was filed after the statute of limitations had expired.
He had previously lost at the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal in Abuja on the same grounds that his case was without merit.
Nwajiuba and a civil rights organization, Rights for All International, had petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn the processes that produced Tinubu and Abubakar as candidates for their respective political parties.
