A tragic incident has claimed the life of Swedish rapper C.Gambino, also known as Karar Ramadan. The 26-year-old, recently honored as Sweden’s hip-hop artist of the year, was shot in Gothenburg on Tuesday evening.
Police confirmed that the shooting, which occurred in a parking lot, is connected to gang conflicts. No arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
Images from the crime scene show bullet holes in a glass door, painting a grim picture of the event.
C.Gambino’s latest track, “Sista Gang” (Last Time), released on May 31, has already been streamed 700,000 times on Spotify. His music enjoys a monthly listenership of around a million people.
Petter Hallen, a Swedish rap expert, described C.Gambino as one of the greats in Swedish hip-hop. Hallen noted that the rapper had recently begun to explore themes beyond the criminal world, focusing more on relationships and emotions.
This tragic event echoes the loss of another prominent Swedish rapper, Einar, who was killed in a similar gang-related shooting in Stockholm in October 2021. Sweden has been grappling with a rise in gang violence, with shootings and bombings becoming increasingly frequent. Initially tied to the drug trade, these violent acts have expanded to include personal vendettas and rivalries.
