Former Big Brother Naija star Tacha Akide has revealed why she chose to host her Guinness World Record attempt for the most makeovers in 24 hours in Nigeria instead of the United Kingdom.
Speaking during a short break at her Tacha Beauty Festival — currently taking place at the John Randle Centre for Yorùbá Culture and History in Lagos — Tacha explained that the decision was inspired by her desire to showcase Nigeria’s beauty industry on the global stage.
She shared that the initial plan was to hold the event in London with a potential sponsor already on board, but something didn’t feel right.
“The plan was London. We already had a brand willing to sponsor — NYX,” she said. “But London didn’t have the energy I wanted. My people are here. It just made more sense to bring this home and put Nigeria’s beauty industry on the global map.”
Tacha added that she had been preparing for this project for two years, waiting for the perfect moment to bring it to life.
The media personality officially began her 24-hour record attempt on Saturday night, aiming to complete 150 makeovers within the set time. Impressively, by early Sunday morning, she had already achieved 115 makeovers in 12 hours, surpassing the previous world record of 113 in 24 hours.
Tacha’s determination and love for her country continue to inspire many, as she proves that passion and persistence can turn any dream into history.
