Taylor Swift and actor Joe Alwyn have ended their six-year relationship.
According to a source close to Taylor, “Taylor and Joe broke up a few weeks ago.” They simply grew apart and intended to keep in touch.”
Swift and Alwyn’s representatives have been contacted for comment. The news was first reported by Entertainment Tonight.
Swift, who is currently on her “Eras Tour,” and Alwyn first became romantically involved in 2016.
The Grammy winner and Alwyn managed to keep their relationship mostly under wraps, but in true Taylor Swift fashion, the singer dropped some Easter eggs about Alwyn along the way through her music.

Swift revealed on Instagram in January that “Lavender Haze,” a song from her 2022 album “Midnights,” is about Alwyn, saying that when you’re in a lavender haze of love, “you’ll do anything to stay there and not let people bring you down off that cloud.”
“Like my six-year relationship, we’ve had to dodge strange rumors, tabloid stuff, and we just ignore it.” “This song is sort of about ignoring that stuff in order to protect the real stuff,” she added.
Alwyn also received writing credit for the song “Sweet Nothing” on “Midnights.”
It’s not the first time the couple has worked together on songs for Swift’s albums. Under the pseudonym “William Bowery,” the British actor was credited with a number of pieces from Swift’s 2020 pandemic-era albums “Folklore” and “Evermore.”

Swift revealed his true identity in the same year’s Disney+ documentary “Folklore: the long pond studio sessions,” said Alwyn “plays piano beautifully and he’s always just playing and making things up and kind of creating things.”
“Folklore” went on to win a Grammy for album of the year in 2021, Alwyn’s first Grammy.
Swifties picked up on some bridal-leaning lyrics in “Lover,” the title track from her album released that year, and there was speculation the couple was engaged in 2019.
“I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t,” Alwyn told WSJ Magazine in 2022.
