According to CBS Colorado, the suspects in the rock-throwing death of 20-year-old Alexa Bartell appeared in Jefferson County Court and faced several additional charges in addition to the ones initially brought against them when they were arrested last month.

According to CBS Colorado, Joseph Koenig, Nicholas “Mitch” Karol-Chik, and Zachary Kwak are each facing 13 charges for throwing the rocks that killed Bartel and injured others. They are charged with first-degree murder with indifference, attempted murder, and multiple counts of assault and attempted assault, according to CBS Colorado.

On April 19, Bartell was killed while driving and talking on the phone with a friend. According to the sheriff’s office, the suspects threw a large landscaping rock at Bartell’s car, which went through her windshield, striking and killing her.

According to CBS Colorado, the teens allegedly circled back to take a “memento” photo of her car after it ran off the road.
The suspects and Bartell were all from Arvada, Colorado. The three 18-year-old suspects were apprehended at their homes a week later, according to a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
