Tems Launches ‘The Leading Vibe’ to Uplift African Women in Music
You’ve heard her voice. You’ve probably had “Love Me Jeje” on repeat. But now, Tems is turning up the volume in a whole new way—with a game-changing move that goes far beyond the charts.
She’s officially launched The Leading Vibe Initiative, a new platform dedicated to helping women across Africa carve out their space in the music industry. And it’s not just for singers—this is for the beatmakers, the engineers, the writers, the visionaries.
In a heartfelt post, the Grammy-winning artist shared the news with her fans:
“Today, I’m so proud to launch The Leading Vibe. From my self-taught journey with no roadmap, I created this initiative to support African women in music—those breaking barriers, building boldly, and leading the next wave.”
Tems knows firsthand what it’s like to find your way in an industry with no clear path. Her rise was built without a safety net, without formal training, and without industry connections. That experience fuels this mission—to open doors for others like her, but faster and with fewer roadblocks.
And she’s starting right at home.
On August 8–9 in Lagos, The Leading Vibe Initiative will host its very first event—an immersive two-day program created for Nigerian women aged 18 to 35. It’s a space designed to teach, inspire, and connect. From hands-on workshops to panel talks with established creatives, attendees will walk away with real tools, guidance, and community.
This isn’t just another event—it’s a movement. And for Tems, it’s personal.
Even as Nigeria’s music industry explodes globally, she’s noticed how few women are seen and heard behind the scenes. There are too many untapped talents writing songs in their bedrooms, producing beats no one hears, or holding back because they think there’s no room for them.
This is for them.
Tems says The Leading Vibe is about “the ones who believe, the ones who dare to be different—the ones with a dream to be seen, and a voice that deserves to be heard.”
And this is just the beginning. Plans are already underway to take the initiative across Africa, making sure this isn’t just a spark, but a fire that spreads.
Applications are officially open. If you’ve got something to say—and a sound the world hasn’t heard yet—this might just be your moment.
