After spending a lot of money and spending hours in line, Taylor Swift fans are furious and have complained enough to prompt a new antitrust probe targeting Ticketmaster.
Swifties have been complaining about the terrible Taylor Swift concert presale since Tuesday, but Tennessee’s attorney general believes there may be more at stake here than just whiny Gen Zers. It might be illegal.
TN AG Antitrust concerns “may be an issue,” according to Jonathan Skrmetti, for Ticketmaster. He worries that there isn’t enough competition in the market, which results in exorbitant ticket pricing and a bad consumer experience.
Skrmetti poses queries He blames Ticketmaster’s lack of readiness on the size of the corporation, which should have prepared it for the “extraordinary demand” from Taylor’s devoted following. After all, the female-controlled the whole top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100!
As we previously reported, when fans tried to purchase tickets for “The Eras Tour,” Ticketmaster was a complete mess. After the website collapsed, potential customers were left in limbo, and, to be honest, Ticketmaster’s explanation of what went wrong didn’t make it any better.
Skrmetti worries that Ticketmaster doesn’t care about upsetting fans, whether they are Taylor or other artists, because if they want to attend a performance, they almost always can’t avoid using Ticketmaster.
Consumers have complained to the A.G.’s office about a significant lack of customer service, while other customers claim Ticketmaster advised them to wait five days for a response. The good news for Swift fans is that tickets are still available, but the bad news is that they’ll definitely set you back a lot more money on websites like StubHub.
